The life sciences involve some of my favorite topics of science. I love earth science, anatomy, physiology, and field biology to name a few. We are surrounded by these events and processes that take place and being able to understand them makes allows me to see where I fit into the bigger picture.
I believe that in order to appreciate and fully understand science, it takes a lot of reading. Above is a link to a magazine with articles that young adults might find interesting and that might boost their curiosity to make them want to gain more knowledge about science.

This next video is a podcast. It was done by a teacher and offers an introduction into Biology and what Biology and it's main areas entail. This would be a good video for students who were trying to decide if they wanted to take Biology possibly.

This video discusses the link between food safety and animal health and relation. This could pose as an interesting topic especially for students nowadays are going 'green' and eating more organic. What does this mean for food suppliers and how will it affect everyone else?

This video is a video with a voice recording of a lesson plan on animal adaptations. While I may not use this specific video, it definitely provides a good example of how to go about making one of these videos and using appropriate figures and examples. This would be a great supplement for kids who missed class for a day or if I had to be absent because of meetings, then the students would not get behind in their work.

Photo Album for Science(goes along with Discussion Board #7 on Blackboard)

At first, I wasn't sure where to create my photo album at because there are so many choices! However, I finally decided on Photobucket because it is easy to access and is free. The album above that I have created will be used in my future classroom as a way to get students involved in discussing a specific topic and then coming to an overall agreement. I plan to divide students into four groups, so if I had 24 students, each group would have 6 students in it. Every week, one group will pick a topic, or picture, from the photo album above. Next, I will read off a question that pertains to that category. The group of 6 will have to decide on a final answer within five minutes. If they are correct, everyone in the group will receive 2 extra credit points. The next week, the second group of 6 will get to choose a category. No question will be repeated and I will switch the days that I decide to do this activity for each week. This hopefully will give the students some incentive to come to class everyday because if they miss the day this is done on, they will not receive extra credit.
Five Slide Photo Album
This is a short photo album, but it covers the important topic of reproductive barriers that many high school classes will cover when going over the origin of species. Each picture represents one category of isolation: habitat, behavioral, temporal, gametic, and mechanical. With each picture more explanation would be given along with more examples so that the students could really grasp the concept.

This slideshow is a brief video that depicts what happens when the body's immune system is attacked. A more in depth and longer video would obviously be more beneficial, but this video gives an idea as to how this app. could be used in my future classroom.
